Back up and restore

A backup is one file containing all your recipes, ingredients, and prices. Make one whenever you've put in work you wouldn't want to redo.

Make a backup

Go to Settings, then Backup, and click Back up now. Choose where to save the file. A USB drive or a folder that syncs to the cloud (like OneDrive) is a good home for it.

Restore a backup

On the same screen, click Restore and pick your backup file. The app replaces its current contents with the backup. This also works on a brand-new PC: install the app, restore the file, and everything is back.

Restoring replaces what's currently in the app. If you've added recipes since the backup was made, back up again first so nothing is lost.

Move to a new PC

A backup file works in any install of the same version. Install the app on the new PC, restore the file, and every recipe, variant, and photo is there.

A simple habit

Back up after any big menu change, and keep the two most recent files. That covers a dead hard drive, a stolen laptop, or a mistake you want to undo.
